Coaching Staff:

Mike Hutchings - North Atlanta, Buckhead Wrestling Director of Wrestling

Coach Mike Hutchings enters his 27th year coaching wrestling, 25 as a head coach.  Mike has had the pleasure of working with some of the states' most successful coaches in Georgia history including Coach Marty Hutsell (National Wrestling Hall of Fame member and multiple team state championship coach) and Don Williams (coached three state championship teams).  

Mike has coached numerous state champions, state placers, and many successful teams.  He has also spent many years developing youth wrestlers at schools in Griffin, McDonough, and and now Buckhead.

Away from the mat, Mike spends time with his wife Amber and two-year-old daughter Celia (an adventurous dancer, verbose communicator, and future wrestling champ). Mike is a proponent of urban farming and cares for two dogs, one cat, and twenty-one chickens at his home in Hapeville, Georgia.

Alan Kan - North Atlanta HS, Head Varsity Assistant

Coach Alan Kan was one of the best Georgia wrestlers during the 1990's.  Alan wrestled for the legendary Marty Hutsell at McIntosh High School where he was a 4 time state finalist.  His sophomore and senior years he won state titles and was a USA Wrestling High School All-American.  He later wrestled at Indiana University.

Alan is a practicing attorney in Buckhead at his firm Kan Clark Law.     

Payton Rigert - Women's Coach and Primary Head Coach 

Coach Rigert is a a University of the Cumberlands Alum, where she helped lead the team to become Mid-South Conference Dual Meet Champions. She placed 7th at the first inaugural NAIA Women's Wrestling Nationals, as well as 7th at the 2019 US Open at 76kg and 3rd at Dave Shultz in Colorado Springs. Originally from Hood River, Oregon, she has helped coach her high school women's wrestling team, who have won multiple state and team titles. In addition, she has helped host youth wrestling development camps at University of the Cumberlands. In high school, she was a three-time state champion, with multiple titles in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman. She has also worked as a referee for youth in all of the different wrestling styles. Payton is currently pursuing her Masters at Emory University and is excited to be coaching this year.
